Antique Pair Of Candlesticks Bronze French Signed Ormolu 19th Century Victorian

Each candlestick is signed by the make, with his initials’AD’ surmounted by a symbol of a star. The chiselled bronze stem decorated with foliage supports a sconce with detachable nozzle featuring a beaded rim. The whole stands on a triform zoomorphic base with hoof feet which are separated by Greek anthemion palmettes. 26 cm high x 12.5 cm wide. Overall, the candlesticks are in very good condition and show some signs of age and usage. The ormolu retains a good colour. The foundry was established in Paris in the late eighteenth century by Jean-Baptiste-Maximilien Delafontaine and, by 1870, is listed as being located at 10 rue de l’Université. The Delafontaine foundry produced decorative works of high quality and was one of the most renowned of all the Parisian foundries. The main competitor to the Barbedienne foundry, they cast works by some of the leading sculptors of the nineteenth century, including Antoine-Louis Bayre and Mathurin Moreau. Works by Delafontaine remain in the collection of the Louvre and other leading museums. The foundry closed its doors in 1905. Please ask any questions you may have. A little blemish on one of the front corners as shown, there is a split along the seam that could be repaired, the backside needs more decorative tacks along the edge but this really is in amazing condition with springs! Vintage Mid Century Modern Hanging Light Lamp Wood Teak Brass Pendant McFadden

Removed from a mid century retro Detroit MI home. Was hung as a pendant in a staircase. We intended on putting a chain on it and using it as a large swag in a corner but we liked it so much that we turned it upside down as used it as an accent table lamp. Wiring works but probably should be rewired as the plug in cord is just wire nutted on. We are downsizing and do not have room for it anymore. It is a stunning piece and will be the centerpiece of any room that it is in no matter how you decide to use it. The heavy acrylic rock like chunks are absolutely beautiful. We’re not sure that it is teak, we think it may be oak. We believe that it is McFadden but we are not sure. 27 1/2″ tall, 12 1/2″ diameter. Update: we just found the grate that goes on the bottom. We never used it. We have a similar fixture listed that came from the same home. RARE AND STUNNING 1960s Scandinavian find!! Chocolate plastic and white masonite wood with three removable shelves. Mirror is a 17″ x 17″ square and 6.5 deep. Interior shelves are 4″ deep and 16″ wide. Overall very good original vintage condition with minor white paint loss, spots and some faint superficial scratches to brown plastic. Attaches to wall simply with four screws. Closes with a rubber “tongue”. No label on mirror. LOCAL PICK-UP IS ALSO FINE. I LIVE 20 MINUTES OUTSIDE OF MANHATTAN, JUST PAST QUEENS.
