A FANTASTIC QUALITY BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD WRITING SLOPE FROM THE FIRST HALF OF THE 19TH CENTURY. IT HAS FOLD AWAY BRASS HANDLES ON THE SIDES AND A BRASS ENGRAVED CARTOUCHE AND SIMILAR ESCUTCHEON. INTERNALLY IT HAS A PARTIALORIGINAL RETAILERS STICKER UNDER ONE OF THE PANELS, THE ORIGINAL MOROCCAN TOOLED LEATHER SLOPES AND TWO HIDDEN DRAWERS. IT HAS ONE PATCH OF REPAIRED VENEER TO THE LID AND I HAVE REMADE PART OF THE RELEASE MECHANISM FOR THE HIDDEN DRAWERS (BUT IT WORKS FINE). ORIGINAL LOCK AND A MATCHED WORKING KEY. PLEASE NOTE; THE KEYS ARE HANDMADE AND SPECIFIC TO THE LOCK SO REPLACEMENTS ARE HARD TO FIND, ALSO THE LOCKS ARE VERY OLD AND CAN FAIL SO I’D ADVISE JUST USING THE KEYS AS DECORATION AND LOCKING THE BOX AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE. Decorated in a pattern listed in the Transferware Collectors Club Database as Willow Nankin. Has wear consistent with age and use, but otherwise good condition. Measures approximately 7 3/4 inches long x 6 3/8 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not affect the display of the piece.
