Pair of 1960’s Original Vintage George Nakashima Studio Walnut Settee Loveseat. Listed for sale is a fabulous pair of settees, crafted by George Nakashima circa 1966. These pieces are iconic examples of the slatted lounge series, which followed a design language through the forms of both long settees and more slender lounge chairs. These particular examples are 48 inch settees constructed from solid walnut. The finish on both pieces has a lovely patina and is in beautiful shape. The upholstery is quite fresh as well and appears to have been recently done (I would guess by the upholstery shop that works with the Nakashima Studio based on the quality and details). Its foam is comfortable and fabric has great feel. The price listed is for one settee. Two settees are available. A third (from a separate original owner) is also available if it interests you. PAIR 1960s Lounge Chairs-MCM-Pearsall Era. Smaller chair: 33″ tall x 33″ deep x 36 widest. Seat height including cushion: 17. 38″ tall x 33″ deep x 36 widest. More photos available upon request. Vintage his/hers lounge chairs in Mid Century Modern style. Sculptural wood sled base. Chromed steel dome glides. In the style of Adrian Pearsall. These chairs were reupholstered at some point long ago. Both chairs need to be reupholstered again. The are a couple of small holes in the upholstery on the smaller chair and a couple of the zig zag springs on the smaller chair are broken. One of the dome glides is missing on the larger chair. Otherwise both chairs are generally in good condition with no damages and no significant wear. No restorations (apart from reupholstery). No cracks, breaks, splits, chips, bruises, dents. No significant scuffs or scratches. Some typical light use-related wear to the bases: scattered small rubs and scratches. Nothing significant or conspicuous. With professional reupholstery and perhaps some minor touch up to the bases these chairs would look like new.
