ANTIQUE HIGH VICTORIAN BUSTLE EVENING OVER-DRESS /JACKET c. 1868- 1874
Exciting original lady’s Evening overdress. From the late 1860s. One might more properly call it a jacket or a tunic with the last being most appropriate I think. It has no waistband, so it isn’t a proper overdress, but it is clearly intended to be belted, making it not exactly a jacket. Made of cotton net with silk lace, this splendid tunic displays an ingenuity not often found. Though lace jackets and net fichus can be found from earlier in the 1860s, this particular style is rare indeed. It is designed to be worn over a simple underdress, either as its own ensemble or over an evening dress for dinner or another less formal evening function. It might also have been worn as a summer day ensemble. As was fashionable in the early bustle period, the back is shorter than the front to simulate a tablier or apron effect on the front of the skirt. The back is then shorter to rest on the tournure or bustle. It is shown here as it might have been worn, closed at the throat with a brooch and clasped at the waist with a belt. I have also shown it without either. These fantastic dessert-like confections of net and lace helped extend a lady’s wardrobe by giving new life to an old dress or just a new look to a simpler ensemble. Condition: There may be a couple of pin holes in the lace or net which can be easily ignored or repaired to be indistinguishable. The bust measures 34 inches, The waist measures 24. The waist actually hangs open and can fit a larger mannequin. Please note: Measurements are approximate and should be taken as maximum. Antique French Tete Jumeau Bebe Bisque Doll Closed Mouth Medaille D’Or Body
This stunning antique French Closed Mouth Tete Jumeau Bebe, by Emile Jumeau circa 1885, is a treasure to behold! Her deepest chocolate, inset paperweight eyes are delicately fringed with finely painted lashes and accentuated with gracefully arched multi-stroked brows. Her cherubic bisque face features peachy pink lips and soft pink cheek blush. Little original blue earrings adorn her ears. Her long, human hair chestnut brown curls and tendrils frame her face beautifully and cover her original cork pate. Her original antique costume is darling! Resplendent in hues of the softest robin’s egg blue, and antique lace. A sumptuous satin bow ties the bonnet that frames her face artfully with tulle, rosettes and lace. Lovely antique lacy undergarments and original marked Jumeau shoes complete the ensemble. She is the epitome of a proper little French girl during an era when French youngsters were doted upon, and rightfully so. Her original composition and wooden fully jointed body with original body finish, has plump limbs and bears the older, highly sought after, Medaille D’Or mark. According to Theimer & Theriault’s. She has a “Mama” voice mechanism which is silent now, but could possibly be revived if you’re so inclined. Her body has the normal expected bit of wear appropriate for her age of 130 years or more! Vintage 1957 Fender Stratocaster Clean with Original Tweed Case
Without exception, one of the nicest Strats I have owned in every respect. Very traditional Strat sounding, reminds me of the early “Clapton” solo album and the “Layla” recordings which is one of my favorite tones. The neck shape is perfecto! Nice medium plus “V” profile with very little wear to the original frets. The finish is really clean with absolutely no touch up or overspray anywhere. Being a one owner guitar from the dry west there is no corrosion. Look at the keys, they look like brand new, as does all hardware on this guitar. Also, this guitar must have been resting in it’s case most of it’s life with it’s unfaded maple neck. It’s very light colored maple has very little yellowing. We like them light, but not too light, a perfect 7 lbs. The pickups resistance are: Neck 5.82 Middle 5.83 Bridge 6.31. Priced right and in no hurry so low balls will not work on this… It comes with its original clean tweed case and rear trem cover. All sales final unless materially not as described.
