1954 Rolex 6202 Turn-O-Graph in outstanding original condition. The strap is a new, unworn, high quality 20mm Hadly Roma leather one that complements the watch nicely. The Tropic 10 crystal is a new old stock (NOS) genuine Rolex one I sourced and had installed when I got the watch about 10 years ago. The crystal came in its original Rolex paper wrapper and was probably made in the 1970s or before. It is still flawless, has never been scratched or polished and is identical to the one that came on the watch when new but without internal fractures from the radium dial and hands. The entire watch is in 90% or better condition. The dial is still fairly glossy and has only very minor, even spots when viewed closely from certain angles. The original Radium luminous markers are almost completely intact with extremely minor chips to a one or two. The original flat gilt hands are well preserved with nice gold color and their original Radium completely intact and stable. The last photo shows the watch behind a Geiger counter where is is reading over 10x the dangerous level. It is very hot as an original Radium dial with this amount of lume should be confirming its originality. The movement winds and sets smoothly and runs strong with good amplitude. It is keeping time to within a few seconds a day but has not been serviced in the 10+ years I have owned the watch. The crown is the original and bears a cross below the Rolex Coronet as is correct for a 1950s Rolex. It screws down well and would probably have no trouble passing a water resistance test although one has not been done and I do not guarantee the watch to be water resistant. The 35mm stainless case looks to either never been polished or maybe lightly one or two times with a polishing cloth. It retains its original shape with thick lugs, crisp lug holes, sharp edges, and sharp bezel. It has no significant scratches or dents and is the nicest I have see on a 1950s Oyster. The back screws down perfectly and has only ONE mark from service during its 65 year life. The fully covered Bubbleback style movement runs great, has no fingerprint marks, has no wobble to the rotor and has taken on a beautiful bronze patina from age. The 60 minute time-lapse bezel and aluminum insert are 100% original, turn smoothly with just the right amount of tension and are securely held in place. The insert has only a hint of wear and has a minor deep red undertone from age when viewed in strong light. It has a red triangle at the top and a hole where a luminous dot used to be. The caseback is dated first quarter of 1954 making this one of the first Turn-O-Graphs. The 6202 is the predecessor to the Submariner and debuted one year before the Sub. As shown in the photos, the model and serial numbers are clearly legible and not worn at all. This is one of them finest 6202s I have seen in my 20+ years of collecting vintage watches and needs no excuses.
