Antique Victorian Edwardian Pompadour Titanic Era Beaded Dinner Gown c. Heavily Encrusted in Beading & Metallic Threading! EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND! Cream camisole underneath not included. It is there to protect my aging mannequin. Props & photos not included. But used for proper presentation of goods to enhance your shopping experience. Happy Sunday night to all my wonderful customers friends from Olde New England! Thinking of everyone around the globe. All will be well, wonderful days to come are on the horizon. In the meantime, look after one another as best you can. Feel free just to drop by to say Hello. For your protection & mine, my work station is cleaned & sanitised daily. I practice constant hand washing. This is only temporary. And I will return to three times a week once things are better. Description, history & general age issues. Are you ready to go a real party? Gazing upon this beautiful Grecian Influence Edwardian gown, you can just hear Leonardo Dicaprio’s famous words from James Cameron’s TITANIC. Honoured to present this special, one of a kind gown in light of the Titanic Anniversary this month. I tried to capture her lovely bead encrusted overdress for the camera as best as possible. The main under dress is a typical Edwardian Olive green, satin smooth taffeta like gown with gorgeous lace tiers. Adorning the lower skirt which end with three golden medallions on both the front & back of the gown. These medallions are trimmed out in brown floss. Dripping from each set of medallions are brown & gold floss baubles. The pompadour net lace beaded over dress is the showstopper here. The pompadour beaded bodice covers the entire. Upper bodice, waist & arms. The pompadour then parts ways to either side of the gown hanging in endless dripping gold net. Dripping with a floral shower of beading. Among this endless cluster of artful beading are trim sprays of silver threaded vines. Actual gold & actual silver thread. Some of the other sprays consist of what looks like copper, some like gold. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to know if that is the case here? I have no way of truly testing the threads responsibly & professionally. There are soooooo many beautiful, typical Edwardian colours represented in the beading. That I ran out of room in my colour description list above. Ill let the photos do the talking. Note: Some of the beads & baubles fell off during the photo shoot & will accompany the gown in a ziploc bag. Note: My mannequin has a rather large bosom so I wasn’t able to bring the upper back closes properly. I did not want to. Stretch or pull the net. I notice here & there where there may be beading missing but I cannot say that for certain as the gown may have been. A custom work of beauty nearing completion. The the very base “V” tip at the hem of the right side panel is folded over. Possibly to protect the ends against tearing or to accommodate the wearer’s height. The left side base”V” at the hem has. Came out of it’s hem & hangs fully. So the new owner will need to fold it over & adhere with a few careful stitches or. Take out the hem of the other & let both hang fully. I’m having a hard time finding holes in the gold net. I know I came across one. Fingertip hole near some trim, maybe in back but I cannot find it again. So, there may be some small holes, maybe not but I’m certain. There are some loose, hanging beads of which I tried. The interior olive green sleeves are a different fabric than the main gown, newer. In my professional opinion, this gown. Was meant to be worn without the sleeves & some one added them in for either modesty purposes or to protect the gold. Net beaded sleeves which make good sense. The last row of lace on the main gown is lighter than the upper tier & may have been added on at a later time. Underarm netting intact no rot. Interior newer olive arms intact. The overdress alone is worth a fortune in itself. The net is so encrusted in beading & thread sprays that it has some weight to it. I’ve done my best to describe her to you. It truly is hard to see everything as there is so much art going on in this gown. I had another person view & overlook the gown & they also are hard pressed to find issues. Gown closes down the back. I believe most if not all interior & exterior closures are present. Im having a difficult time seeing the eyes. On the beaded overdress so I may be missing one or two. There is some fraying on the raw edges of the interior seams. I’m not certain of the exact type of fabric on the main gown but I can say it is strong & intact. Oh, and before I end….. Just when you didn’t think it this gown could get any better…… It made an appearance in a National Geographic films Titanic Revealed. Please write to me if you would like to see photos. Main Issues of concern. Minor, see above description. Measurements Approximate Lying Flat & best to my ability. 1910s Walking Coat Edwardian Walking Coat Antique Coat Silk Wool Challis Downton Abbey Coat Titanic Era Pleated Coat Museum Quality Pie. This is a stunning Edwardian walking coat! The exterior is a lightweight challis of silk and wool in gray. The lining is lighter gray silk with a small dot pattern and the attached neck scarf and belt are darker gray with 3 ball fringe trim. This is a large coat with a ton of fabric, please bear with me as I try to describe it from the collar down! There is a small, squared, fold over collar made of the darker gray silk, it has tiny ball fringe. There is a matching neck scarf, it is attached on each side and is sewn to the coat lining from the collar along the shoulder seam. The front of the coat falls straight down from the shoulder, there is a hip pocket on each side. The sleeves are large, square cut with a single point where they are gathered. They hang very loosely with a wide, statement cuff. The front has a hidden button closure. The back of the coat is pleated from behind the collar. The pleats are sewn at the back of the waist. There is a silk belt (matches the scarf and collar) attached to each side of the sewn pleats. The belt is sash style with small ball fringe at the ends. The interior of the coat, including sleeves, is completely lined in pale gray silk with a dot pattern. There is a grosgrain ribbon belt sewn behind the waist (inside the coat), when tied it cinches the back of the coat to the body to exaggerate the smallness of the waist and poof the pleats behind the back. There are numerous, small light brown spots on the coat, a few small moth holes and some staining inside the cuffs. Issues are subtle and hide in the draped fabric. The coat is strong and wearable, presents beautifully! Cost is based on total weight. This does not apply to fragile items that may have to be packed separately.
