8 Early Style All Bisque Kestner, Stiff Hips, Wrestler-Beautifull 1880 orig

Early style all-bisque Kestner measuring about 8. Tall with no wig. She has beautiful blue glass paperweight eyes (original set). Appears to have a “1” on lower back of head. Wrestler-like chunky contours of torso, muscular hips, thighs and calves. Well-defined small bosom emphasized by tightly-fitting silk dress. Round face, stiff hips, peg jointed arms (left arm modeled with more bend at elbow than right arm). Her head is made in a position turned to the right. Two-strap bootines, vertically ribbed white stockings. She has dark multi-stroked brows, finely painted lashes, closed mouth, accented nostrils and eye corners, dimpled knees. Dark blonde mohair wig with cloth skull cap and cardboard pate (I don’t know whether it’s vintage or antique). Highest quality bisque in perfect condition with no damage or repairs. Short scratch (mold flaw) on back of neck below the inscribed “1”. Her right eye has a thin vertical crack, which I believe is original to its making. The dress being sewn on I’ve felt through the fabric and I can’t feel any chips or other damage to the body and joints. She wears a flattering custom sewn blue silk dress, with dark blue velvet trimmed shoulders and bow on back of skirt. The bodice of dress is tightly fitting, which emphasizes the contours of her bosom. Fabric is in excellent, sturdy condition, except for stretching damage on upper back. Dress is sewn on, so I won’t attempt to cut it off. Sewn-on antique lace underwear. Thank you for looking. RARE KESTNER ANTIQUE BISQUE DOLL – Mold #241. This doll is from a smoke free home and has no odors. T his Kestner beauty will steal your heart. She is 18 1/2 inches tall. For price reference see page # 319 in the book,’Doll Values’ 13th Edition by Linda Edward. And on page #134 in the book’Kestner King of Dollmakers’ by Jan Foulke. She is the seldom seen mold #241. She is well marked on the back of her head (see photo). She has two small paint chips off her left side of her head under her wig (see photo). Her gorgeous blue glass eyes sparkle and her turned up mouth appears to want to speak. She retains her original plaster pate and her original light brown wig. She has open/close eyes; socket head; and open mouth. She does not have any repainting as examined by a black light. And she does not have any hairlines as examined by a bright light. She has her nice original body. She is dressed in antique lace trimmed pantaloons; antique slip; darling antique cotton print dress; an antique red wool cape (the hood is line in silk that is melting); brown antique socks and antique shoes. These dolls dont come up to often… But to have one come up that is considered first out the mold.. She stands at 17 inches. She has a bisque socket head. Brown glass sleep eyes with a closed mouth. Her ORIGINAL mohair wig!! So beautiful and with charming styling. ORIGINAL early wooden and composition fully jointed with straight wrists. She has markings : VII. She is a rare early model. Her deity res are very well painted and defined. That is what is so special with this doll! She is in EXCELLENT condition. I see no hairlines, cracks or repairs. Beautifully Superb, All Original, Antique German Toddler Character Doll 260 by Kestner, king of dollmakers. This sweet little girl stands 28 tall. She has a bisque head with brown, sleepy/flirty eyes, and a slightly open mouth with porcelain teeth. Her wig is an original bob style in a beautiful brown, almost auburn color adorned with silk flowers. Her body is composition and fully ball jointed at the wrists, elbows, shoulders, hips and knees. She has a swivel head in which her eyes move in different directions depending on which direction her head is turned. She wears a lovely, pale pink and cream lacy dress with a matching full slip with 3 layers of ruffles and matching panties. Her oil cloth shoes and nylon socks are original and in great condition. She also has a beautifully hand crocheted bonnet. And to complete her outfit is a beautiful, Victorian, embroidered silk coat with double lining and plenty of lace details and ribbons. Her condition is excellent. There are no chips or cracks to her bisque head. Her eyes are in perfect condition. Her composition body has no breakage or chips to the paint. There is very slight, age related crazing on her belly, which is normal due to the fact that wood expands in warm damp climate, then shrinks in cooler weather. After 100 years of climate change it is impossible to stop this natural effect. All her fingers and toes are intact and she has had no repairs. This superb quality little girl is a true treasure for any collector, and can be passed down for many more generations to come! 8 1/2Antique Early Kestner Doll Jointed Closed Mouth Composition Body. This doll is unmarked lending to believe she is a very early example. She measures approximately 8 1/2 standing. I will give you the limited history I was told when I acquired her. She was acquired from a woman in Nashville, TN who is in her 70’s. She was moving out of state and this doll was her grandmother’s doll. She stated the dolls clothes and shoes are original and the only alteration she made for the doll was the crown she made for her hair out of gold knit material. Her composition joints are tight and looking closely at the doll, it appears at some time in her life, she was restrung nicely. She is wearing her original honey blonde human hair wig. Looking inside her head she has old paper inside to keep her brown glass sleep eyes open and prevent her weight from damaging her beautiful bisque head. Her bisque head is in excellent condition. No cracks or chips. Face paint is Kestner perfection. Her jointed body shows some joint wear and the left upper leg is missing a piece of composition where the ball of the hip would be. She is wearing a white matching flower design lace trim dress set that consists of the dress, slip, and bloomers. The dress has intricate detail and scalloped edges. No stains on the dress. It does have a little tear at the waist area (see photos) and a few little holes in the back. She is wearing dainty delicate leather shoes that are incised 3 or 8/0 on the bottom of each shoe. She is also wearing a lovely beaded necklace. I have kept her displayed under a glass dome. She is the perfect cabinet size doll and a fantastic addition to your doll collection. Please view all the photos provided as they are a large part of the description. She is an antique doll with imperfections. However, I will describe each item as best and as honestly as possible, as well as provide photos for your review.
