This is an element that went in the Thomas Edison ceramic jar battery. It would just fit in the Edison jar battery that had the ceramic lid with the two large holes. I have seen those lids (very rarely), but have NEVER seen one with an element, let alone a new element. It is item #304332639077. It looks to me like this element is taking advantage of what is called an air cathode. What an air cathode does is takes the outside air and uses it as one of the reactants. The beauty of an air cathode is it never has to be replenished because the air is always around us. Plus, the battery is lighter because it does not have to carry a second reactant around. It just grabs it as it needs it. Check out the pictures. Comes with the original box which is beat up. The element itself is in excellent, like new shape. This is a VERY RARE and unique item. If you are a collector of this kind of thing, you may want to add it to your collection. Or, maybe you have just the jar and lid and would like to make it a complete battery.
