“Exquisite” is the best word to describe this Edwardian Ca 1910 French net pleated and embroidered tea gown. This incredible dress is heavily decorated in embroidery and has a double ruffle of lace and fringe. The ends of the sleeves are decorated in the same needlework and fringing. The high neck collar has celluloid stays in the back and wire around the top to keep it standing tall. The waist is slightly empire, and the hips are generous with some fullness in that area. The dress does up in the back with hooks and eyes, and has a silk ribbon circle flower at the back above the waist. The sleeves are very long. The dress has a tissue paper silk under dress in an ivory color attached to the bodice front and back and completely under lining the skirt. The presentation is truly gorgeous. The gown undoubtedly came from a wealthy family. The condition of this dress is incredibly good for it’s age. There are no holes or rips or tears or major stains. There is light underarm color on both arms which should come out with an oxyclean wash. There is a slightly darker area on the skirt on the front near some embroidery which I photographed for you. This also will launder out. I have laundered these gowns, and although the color is quite creamy ecru now, when laundered it will come bright white. There is a rust spot on the back of the silk under skirt which will never be seen. It is small and light. It measures about a dime in size. There are no other issues to mention. The measurements of the tea gown taken laid flat and measured straight across and down are as follows. Shoulder to shoulder 16. Shoulder to hem 51. Waist to hem 37. Shoulder to waist 14 1/2.
