This is a rare matched pair of half-plate, tinted Ambrotypes in original, antique oval frames. These two have traveled through history together and must remain a pair. They are posed in a studio against a fabric stand which may have been an aid to assist subjects to not move. The ages wood of the frames have some chips and small cracks, but these pieces are in great, hangable shape right away without any further work. The plates appear to be in excellent condition. A quick check of the plate back revealed that these are hand tinted on the reverse to give the skin a slightly rosier tone. Each frame is almost 14″ tall and 11.5″ at the widest point.
