Antique Victorian American Civil War era purple taffeta semi mourning day gown, with large crinoline skirt, with tapered waist bodice, with black lace and beadwork detail to neck and sleeves. The dress fastens to the bodice front via a series of hooks and stitched loops, with the skirt having an integral pocket, plus there is also a small hidden coin pocket to the waist band. The dress is photographed using a crinoline petticoat which is not included in this sale. AGE Circa early 1860’s SIZE Bodice Length (shoulder to waistband) – 15″ Bust – 30″ Waist – 24″ Sleeve – 20″ (shoulder to cuff) Skirt Length Front – 40″ Length Back – 42″ The gown is in a good condition for age, although there is a small “v” tear to the bodice. Circa early 1860’s. Length (shoulder to waistband) – 15. Sleeve – 20 (shoulder to cuff). Length Back – 42. The gown is in a good condition for age. Although there is a small “v” tear to the bodice, plus one or two other tiny holes to the fabric. The beadwork trim to the collar has started to come away and is lose, plus the cream lace trim to the inside of the collar has started to come away, and would need a stitch or two to repair. Most of the hook/stitched loop fastening to the bodice are missing (pinned into place for photographs), plus a small section where skirt meets waistband has a split to the seam so would need a stitch repair. Th dress is over 150 years old, and whilst all of the major faults have been listed, there are other minor issues, such as loose threads and tin holes to the skirt, where old length adjustments have been made. Antique Victorian 1880s bustle dress. Two piece skirt and bodice gown. Light Blue & Green checker strip silk taffeta with Royal Blue velvet accents. Skirt has double bustle. The skirt is a bustle skirt there are fossil stays on the inside of the skirt that can be tied to create the bustle these are in good to excellent condition. Velvet accent on the side of the skirt. Pleating around lower skirt. Bodice is fitted with pleated tail. Front has royal blue velvet. Neck and Sleeves are lace. Front has 21 fancy buttons, all are present. They are brass with rhinestones. Six stays in the bodice and lined in polished cotton. The skirt is also lined. Overall Condition is good. Bodice Condition: Some underarm discoloration, very light. There are underarm “pads” These are discolored on the bottom. The fabric has faded with time. On the back side of the bodice you can see the original color. The checker stripes were much more blue then green. The lace at neck and arms is excellent, no rips, one small darker spot on one arm cuff. No rips or tears on the bodice. Bodice is in excellent condition. Skirt Condition: The bottom of the skirt has some staining may be water stain. There are no other stains. There is one rip in the skirt where it attaches to the blue velvet. No other rips in the skirt proper. The waist has some damage. In place the silk taffeta material is ripped at the waist line I have take some photos of this. The dress was from a private collection. Please contact me for cost. 15 1/2 inches from armpit to armpit across the front of the bodice. 21 inches from shoulder to Velvet cuff, does not include lace. 17 inches from bottom of collar to bottom of bodice. 13 1/2 inches around neck.
