1940s Christian Dior New Look Formal Evening Dress Designer Black Silk LBD 1950s. What an extraordinary dress! Strapless style is pleated and gathered around the central button panel creating beautiful draping around the hips. The front of the skirt gives an illusion of being a wiggle dress, with the back draping like a small train, but the skirt is completely full. The interior of the bodice has an attached underpinning with boning and mesh support. The interior of the skirt has a silk lining. Please be aware that this dress is quite small, it does not fit any of our dress forms or mannequins. The dress form shown has a bust of 32.5″ and a waist of 24.5″. Condition Details: Very Good – There is a small, slightly lighter, spot on the back of the skirt, wearer’s left. It is below the zipper, about 3 to the left of the center seam. It is very subtle and hides in the skirt well. The silk lining in the skirt is tearing and shattering. The original lining should be left intact if purchasing for a collection, but should be replaced if you are purchasing it to wear. We will leave this decision to the new owner. There is only one hanging strap remaining and it is broken and has been tied in a knot. These issues are minor and not obvious when worn. This dress presents beautifully! This dress and matching button fronted cropped bolero over shirt are made from a beautiful pale yellow damask fabric. The dress is a strappy dress with a gentle v shaped neck line. The bodice is fitted and has a fully functioning zip fastening running down the left side seam. The skirt is fully circular, it really is incredible. The over shirt has short capped sleeves and a neat rounded collar. It is beautifully tailored to fit immaculately over the bodice if the dress. ANTIQUE HIGH VICTORIAN BUSTLE EVENING OVER-DRESS /JACKET c. 1868- 1874

Exciting original lady’s Evening overdress. From the late 1860s. One might more properly call it a jacket or a tunic with the last being most appropriate I think. It has no waistband, so it isn’t a proper overdress, but it is clearly intended to be belted, making it not exactly a jacket. Made of cotton net with silk lace, this splendid tunic displays an ingenuity not often found. Though lace jackets and net fichus can be found from earlier in the 1860s, this particular style is rare indeed. It is designed to be worn over a simple underdress, either as its own ensemble or over an evening dress for dinner or another less formal evening function. It might also have been worn as a summer day ensemble. As was fashionable in the early bustle period, the back is shorter than the front to simulate a tablier or apron effect on the front of the skirt. The back is then shorter to rest on the tournure or bustle. It is shown here as it might have been worn, closed at the throat with a brooch and clasped at the waist with a belt. I have also shown it without either. These fantastic dessert-like confections of net and lace helped extend a lady’s wardrobe by giving new life to an old dress or just a new look to a simpler ensemble. Extend YOUR collection by adding this exquisite piece to it! Brooch, belt and underpinnings not included. Condition: There may be a couple of pin holes in the lace or net which can be easily ignored or repaired to be indistinguishable. The bust measures 34 inches, The waist measures 24. VINTAGE GOLD LAME EVENING GOWN/ DRESS c. 1930s WEARABLE

This listing is for a knockout gold lame evening gown from the late 1930s- very Hollywood Glam! It’s a silk and metallic crepe woven with a raised design of leaves done entirely in gold bullion threads! The skirt is bias-cut to slink over the hips and swirl enticingly around the legs. It’s so very Bringing up Baby! The buttons are functional but there are no closures, It’s meant to be slipped on over the head. Make this fabulous gown part of your wardrobe! Please note it is SMALL. The sleeves are only 9 inches around the bicep at most. I advise installing an invisible zipper in the side seam to make getting it on easier. There are loops for a belt which is not present. Condition: There is some discoloration including under the arms, which is typical of vintage lame. It has not been cleaned, but with care the discoloration may disappear. There is also a metallic scent which again, is typical of vintage lame. Please ask any questions. The chest is about. Inches & the waist is about 22 inches. The hips are about 30 inches and the front length is about 37 inches. The sleeves are about 9 inches around the bicep. It’s super small!
